Two days to go!!!!

Wow! We only have two more days in Guatemala!! I'm actually really excited to go home! Today we went to Montericco, where the beach is all black volcanic ash. The Beach of Black Sand!!! I was filling every ones glass Coke bottles with the sand to take home! I didn't get in the water because I have a little cold but i was laughing the entire time. I was only laughing because everyone from our group who got in the water was getting dragged around by the undertow! yeah, they ended up being covered in sand and it was really funny. Tonight we\re going to a party in the square with Mr. Levy! So here goes the fun and We all can wait to get home!!!

THE MAYANS ARE COMING!!!!

Whoa. . . . . Today we are in Flores and we went to the Tikal National Park. Whoa. We saw the Mayan Ruins. They were amazing. They were amazing!!!!!! They were easily the tallest structures Ive seen since we got here!!! We had an awesome guide who had been studying the Mayan culture and he knew everything. The only bad thing is that a bug flew into my ear (and I HATE all things insect) and i had a tiny little panic attack and started hyperventilating. Yeah that was me. Also we climbed over a bunch of ruins and we we're easily five stories up and about 3 feet from the edge. Oh and did i mention I'm terrified of heights. that was interesting. Other than that we have been enjoying the pool here at our hotel and since we leave tomorrow we're going to get in a couple more hours of swimming so. .. . . PEACE AND LOVE,PEOPLE.

To the fam. . .

LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU!!!!

still raining. . . . geesh.

hey everyone

yeah its still raining, I´m sitting in a e-cafe doing some blogging and its pouring rain outside. that okay though because the Spanish classes have been coming along. Mi me gusta todo las clases. Y mi maestra es beuno. Ella nombre es Angelica.

Yeah I'm a total dork. just an update. my ´home-stay family is hosting four other girls from Holland and they´re all really nice. It´s pretty disorienting to hear them chit-chat in their own way and not be able to laugh at the jokes. At least Jayaira is staying the same house. Its not as bad that way.

I still miss mi familia, but it´s getting easier everyday, because everyday is closer to the day we go back home.

Message to the FAM!!

I miss all of you and especially mi mascoté. I can´t wait to See all of you and to be able to eat some of mom´s food. Mi amo todo.

See you all soon.

TIARA! ^^

Before the adventure . . . .

Hey everyone!!
My name is Tiara Benvenutti, I'm 16 years old and I am a sophomore at MetEast High School in Camden, NJ. I started this blog because I got the amazing opportunity to go on my first abroad trip! Just for some background info on me, I can honestly say that I am a very . . . unique individual. I love all types of music from Heavy Metal to Musicals, and I'm proud to admit that I am a self-proclaimed Geek! I love reading and drawing, but my true passion is working with animals. I also will admit that this trip has me extremely excited. I've never been farther than Puerto Rico, so going out of the country is going to be wickedly awesome!!! We're going to be visiting Antigua, Guatemala and I can say that this probably going to be the best summer of my life so far.

When it comes to the trip I feel most excited about having the chance to meet new people. I used to be a very shy person, but after coming to MetEast I'm always looking forward to making new connections. I really want to pick the brains of people who live in different countries and see what they think about the important topics the world is facing, and I would love to see how teenagers from another part of the world live. The only things I'm nervous about are the homes stays because I can never sleep when I'm not in my bed, and the whole new food issue is going to be difficult. I have a very sensitive stomach so I'm worried about getting sick when I'm over there. Other than those two concerns, I'm ready to get going!! Keep on reading to see what happens next!! ^.^
Peace and Love!
